SprutCAD drawing

The editor is activated by clicking on the  button on the main toolbar while the Model tab is active. This creates a new drawing in the «Full Model» folder. There may be several independent drawings in the project.

When the drawing mode is active the drawing toolbar appears at the top of the graphics window.

The following object types are available:

  •  Point. The object was made for compatibility with the previous version. It is constructed by specifying a point on the screen or by entering the coordinates of a point in the inspector.
  •  Line. It is constructed by specifying the start and end points on the screen, or by specifying their coordinates in the inspector. If you press the <Ctrl> key while building a line and specify a previously constructed line, a parallel copy of the specified line will be created. For the arc or circle the line will be constructed along the arc tangent.
  •  Circle. By default, the circle is constructed by specifying its center and radius. By right-clicking on the button for constructing a circle, you can choose an alternative method of construction —    building a circle passing through 3 points.  In both ways, when you press the <Ctrl> key and specify previously constructed lines or arcs, the circle will be built tangentially to the specified element.
  •  Arc. In default mode, the arc is constructed specifying the start and end point and its radius. Also, two more ways are available: 1)    — indicating the center of the arc, the first point and the angle; 2)    — arc passing through 3 points. In the first and second methods, if you press the <Ctrl> key and specify a previously constructed object, the arc will be constructed tangentially to it.
  •  Rectangle.  By default, it is constructed by specifying the first and opposite points. Also in the inspector, you can specify the size of the rectangle and the angle of rotation. The second way to build—    select the side of the previously constructed element and specify the size. The resulting rectangle will be rotated at the same angle as the previously selected object.
  •  Contour. In the first method, the contour is constructed by sequentially specifying the nodal points. Contour elements can be lines or arcs. Switching the type of element is made in the context menu. To activate, press the right mouse button, or by pressing the <Ctrl + space> key combination. Completion of the contour is available in the same place, you only need to choose how to complete the construction - on the current element or to complete it before closing with the beginning of the contour. In addition, specifying the first point of the contour completes the construction of a closed contour, or by double-click. Two additional methods of construction —   contour construction by specifying a point inside the contour, then the system will try to assemble a contour from elements located around this point and    — contouring along a chain, that is, you must point to any element and the system will automatically assemble a contour of intersecting elements.
  •  Size. By default, a linear dimension is constructed; to do this, you must specify two extreme points of the size, or a side of the object. Also, it is possible to build  radial or  angular size.
  •    Chamfer   RoundingThe function performs the adjustment of two overlapping objects. In the inspector, you can specify the size and chamfer angle or radius of rounding. If you specify a contour, it will be modified accordingly, in the case of simple objects (lines, arcs), an additional element will be constructed.

Changing the line type of all objects, except the point and size, is made by pressing the <Alt + 1>, <Alt + 2>, <Alt + 3>, <Alt + 4> keys, respectively, to the main, auxiliary, dotted and dash-dotted lines . In addition, you can change the line type, as well as the color and layer, in the inspector, in the «Attributes» section.

Additional functions

  •   Trimming an item - deleting a specified part of an item that intersects with other items. The highlighted part will be removed.
  •   Split element - component (circuit, rectangle, etc.) is replaced by a set of line lines and arcs, of which element was selected.
  •  Equidistant - an element is constructed that is equidistant to the indicated one.
  •  Block management menu.

Group editing

When choosing to edit several elements (window, or sequentially selecting objects with the pressed <Shift> key), the system switches to block editing mode. At the same time, the interactive change of the point of one element takes into account the touches with other elements and changes them accordingly. Thus, when changing a parameter of one of the selected items, there is parametrized change throughout the model.

Also through the pop-up menu, the standard functions of moving, rotating, axial symmetry and copying the block are available. 

 Geometric modification. Editing mode that supports two-way associative links between objects, such as coincidence of points, parallelism, perpendicularity, tangency, and belonging to lines of one straight line.

You can save the current block and repeatedly paste its copy into the current drawing by selecting it in the block management menu and specifying the insertion point:


After changing the original block, all its copies will also change. To do this, select the menu item «Manage blocks», select the desired block and click the «Edit» button.
