It is also possible to several files at once. That may be useful if you splitted mechanism and saved each node to separate file.
Preparing models
A lot of robot manufacturers (such as KUKA, Abb, Fanuc) provides 3D models of robots and these models can be used in MachineMaker without any fixes.
MachineMaker allows to make some basic operation with imported 3D models, like moving and rotating. Use transformation panel on the right-bottom corner to transform your 3D models.
It is possible to move and rotate only whole 3D model. Please use any external CAD system to make more complex operations with 3D model.
Follow these recommendations to prepare your models:
Invalid |
Valid |
Save each mechanism in the separate file |
Save mechanism in the correct zero position |
Create correct structure of 3D model. Place each element to separate folder |
Save Robot in correct plane. This recommendation is for robots only. usually Robots oriented in ZX plane. But some of them work in ZY plane. Please check correct plane in your robot documentation. |
Remove all unnecessary elements. It is also possible to delete them later in MachineMaker. |

3D models simplifier
MachineMaker automatically simplifies imported files. All unnecessary inner faces and small objects will be deleted.
It is possible to turn off simplifier in the Settings panel
